Sri is hopeful that Safira will achieve a good result in the international competition and said she would provide both moral and material support to boost the young player’s motivation.

Meanwhile, SDN Tajem principal Syahri says that despite being busy with chess competitions, Safira has a good academic record. “She is even one of our most outstanding students in school,” he said.

Safira previously won a gold medal representing Yogyakarta in the 4th National Junior Chess Championship in 2016. (mas/kes)
