Legendary Indonesian rock band Slank is set to tour four pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in Java from Sept. 13-17.
Aside from strutting its stuff on stage, the group also plans to conduct social activities on a tour themed Silaturahmi: Merajut Kebangsaan (Friendly Meeting: Uniting the Nation).
"In addition to entertaining, we will also conduct social activities and distribute copies of the Quran at each pesantren. Insya Allah [God willing], we'll be able to unite the nation through music, religion and other things," the band's drummer, Bimo "Bimbim" Setiawan Almachzumi, told a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com.

"The nation is like a flag. Some of the stitches have torn; we need to sew it up again," said Slank vocalist Kaka.
In collaboration with Asia Pulp & Paper (APP), Sinar Mas and humanist Zastrouw Al Ngatawi, the tour is scheduled to visit Ciamis, Brebes, Pekalongan and Mojokerto. (kes)
