English actor Christian Bale was almost unrecognizable while walking the red carpet at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. He seemed to have put on a lot of weight.

Variety reports that the actor has gained a significant amount of weight in preparation for his upcoming role as Dick Cheney, the 46th United States Vice President.

"I have just been eating a lot of pies," said Bale.

Bale is set to play the role of Cheney in a biopic centered around the controversial figure.

Directed by Adam McKay, renowned actors Steve Carell and Amy Adams are also said to be involved.

Bale has been recognized as an actor willing to radically transform his physical appearance for certain roles.

Over the years, the actor has undergone various physical changes. He once became extremely, almost dangerously thin for his role as Trevor Reznik in The Machinist ( 2004 ). (wir/jes)
