Google Indonesia officially launched the YouTube Go application on Monday.
Available for download through the Play Store, the app is said to offer users with a poor internet connection reduced data consumption.
"This app was designed according to the needs of Indonesians, especially those living outside of Jakarta," said Google Indonesia marketing manager Fibriyani Elastria during a press event in Jakarta as quoted by Antara news agency.

The app is said to also benefit users who have a limited internet quota since, unlike regular YouTube, it boasts a data management feature that allows users to view the amount of data a video will consume. Users can also view the amount of space left in the phone's storage.
Furthermore, YouTube Go allows users to save videos and watch them later offline.
Additionally, Fibriyani said the app has a "preview" feature that gives users a sneak peek of a video before deciding whether to watch it. (kes)
