Google has released a list of the most popular Oscar nominees on YouTube.
n Academy Award is still considered the most prestigious achievement for Hollywood stars, and the ceremony will soon commence on March 4. All nominees have been announced, including main categories such as Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Actress in a Leading Role.
With just a few days until the event, Google has presented a number of facts based on findings in Google Trends.
Below are this year’s nominees in Best Picture category on trailers, ranked by most views on YouTube. Google also examined reviews and reaction videos for the movies’ trailers. It then created a list based on reactions from YouTube users all around the world. Certain words were used in describing the movies in review or reaction videos.
1. Dunkirk (43.9 million views)
2. Get Out (29.9 million views)
3. The Shape of Water (18.2 million views)
4. The Post (17.3 million views)
5. Lady Bird (11.5 million views)
For Lady Bird, around 20 percent of review or reaction videos used the word “relatable”, while 18 percent also used “realistic”.
6. Phantom Thread (9.7 million views)
Phantom Thread appears to have gathered the most positive words among other nominees. YouTube content creators frequently use the word “love” in their videos, racking up to 83 percent of videos for this film.
7. Call Me By Your Name (7.9 million views)
8. Darkest Hour (6 million views)
9. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (5.2 million views)
The word “funny” appeared in almost 50 percent of videos on Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Other words found were “serious” and “dark”.
The comparison for best performance in Best Picture is presented in the special edition of YouTube Movie Trailers Leaderboard with three highlights.
Trailers from two nominees in Best Picture, which rank as the most viewed in YouTube, are also films with the highest revenue among other nominees, according to Box Office Mojo. A recent study by global market research and consulting firm Ipsos revealed that 78 percent of YouTube users agree that watching trailers or movie clips on YouTube helps them decide whether to watch the film in the cinema. Forty-six percent of YouTube users who buy movie tickets stated that they would only buy tickets after watching the trailer on YouTube.
In Indonesia, according to Google Trends from Jan. 27 to Febr. 27 on Best Actor and Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee list, Denzel Washington is the most searched actor, followed by Margot Robbie as the most searched actress. Washington is nominated for his role in Roman J. Israel, Esq, while Robbie received her first Oscar nomination for her role in I, Tonya. (wen)
