ndonesia will be sending 27 representatives to Salone del Mobile, a furniture fair held annually in Milan, Italy. This year’s Salone de Mobile will be held on April 17-22 at the Milan Fairgrounds in Rho.

The 27 representatives from Indonesia have passed three phases of the curatorial process conducted by the Creative Economy Agency. The process began with an open call in December last year that saw 119 participants. The open call was divided into two categories, namely creative talent and industry.

The creative talent category sought candidates with exceptional strength in product design and experiences in projects. Meanwhile, the industry category looked for companies with a strong profile that created products suitable for the event.

At the end of the process, 27 candidates were chosen, 14 from the creative talent category and the remaining from the industry category. The latter must present finished products that fulfill the required industry capacity and have the ability to meet the demands of potential buyers.

The chosen candidates will exhibit their creations and products at the Indonesia booth during Salone del Mobile. Various materials, for instance rattan, wood, natural fibers and clay are manufactured into products with modern design and high craftsmanship.

During preparations for the event, curators involved in the selection process are guiding candidates in product revisions and modifications in line with market trends.
