em>A Quiet Place was a surprise hit. Directed by John Krasinski and starring both him and his wife Emily Blunt, the movie has managed to earn US$85.4 million at the box office.

Teaming up with Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller — the team of producers on A Quiet Place — John Krasinski is going to work on another project, titled Life on Mars.

The movie is planned to be a mix of horror and science fiction based on the short story by Cecil Castellucci, We Have Always Lived on Mars. It is about a female descendant of a human colony on Mars who discovers that she can breathe Mars' toxic air.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Krasinski found the story and brought it to his cohorts. Paramount, the distributors of A Quiet Place, is currently under negotiations to pick up Life on Mars and distribute it as well.

It is still not clear yet if Krasinski will star in the movie. However, it is confirmed that he will be a producer alongside Allyson Seeger, the executive at Sunday Night Productions Banner. No writers have been announced for the movie yet.

A Quiet Place has exceeded the $17 million Paramount movies tend to aim for. The movie revolves around a family trying to survive and adapt in a world that has been infested by blind animals that hunt based on sound. Achieving critical acclaim with a 96 percent score on movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the movie was also a box office hit and a crucial movie that has heightened Krasinski’s career.

Krasinski began acting in NBC comedy The Office. His directorial debut was in 2009, based on David Foster Wallace’s collection of short stories, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men

In 2016, he wrote and directed The Hollars, starring opposite Anna Kendrick. The film earned only $1 million in the box office.

The next movie he will star in is Jack Ryan, based on a character by author Tom Clancy. (ely/wng)
