Actress Marsha Timothy wore a sequin dress by designer Tex Saverio that weighed 10 kilograms for her role as Bidadari Angin Timur in the movie Wiro Sableng.
ward-winning Indonesian actress Marsha Timothy wore a dress designed by the celebrated Tex Saverio for her role as Bidadari Angin Timur in the movie Wiro Sableng.
Weighing 10 kilograms, the long dress is said to be full of sequins.
“It took half an hour to put the dress on and, because of its weight, it took longer for me to walk from the dressing room to the shooting location,” said Marsha Timothy during the launch of the Wiro Sableng teaser trailer on Friday at Plaza Indonesia, Central Jakarta.
Furthermore, because of its weight, the dress also does not have any buttons or zippers. “To handle my movements [during shooting], the dress had to be ‘sewn’ on my body,” said the actress who recently gained praise for her work in Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts. “It was repeated many times; whenever I had a scene, my wardrobe team and a team from Tex Saverio would sew it.”

Overall, it took three hours for Marsha to get the complete look of Bidadari Angin Timur, including her make-up.
Although she was still reluctant to reveal Bidadari Angin Timur’s characteristics, Marsha said the role was mysterious. “She’s a female warrior from the good party,” Marsha said.
However, according to the film’s Instagram, Bidadari Angin Timur is described as “one of the female warriors who can attract Wiro’s heart. Wearing a blue outfit, she moves as fast as the east wind.”
The preparation for her character took around five to six months. Marsha felt she found the physical training challenging as she was still a beginner in martial arts, especially pencak silat.
“When we entered the choreography training phase, the challenge was different compared to basic and martial arts training,” said the winner of Best Actress at the 2017 Sitges International Fantasy Film Festival of Catalonia for her role in Marlina.
Wiro Sableng is slated to premiere in August this year. (wng)
