mazon’s widely anticipated Lord of the Rings series is off to a good start, as writers JD Payne and Patrick McKay have signed on to write the script, as reported by Variety. The multi-season series will tell the story preceding J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring.

Payne and McKay met in their high school debate team more than two decades ago, and they have been working together ever since, collaborating on projects like Star Trek 4Jungle Cruise and the script of Black List drama Escape.

“The rich world that J.R.R.
