Charity concert for Palu quake victims to feature more than 100 artists

ore than 100 artists are set to participate in a concert to help the earthquake victims of Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi, at Lippo Mall Kemang in South Jakarta on Friday.

The 10-hour concert to begin at 1 p.m. is a philanthropic collaboration involving organizations with different expertise to ensure greater effectiveness and correct targeting of the funds raised.

According to a statement, Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) and the University of Indonesia Alumni Association (Iluni UI) will coordinate the relief for the victims, while tokopedia.com and kitabisa.com serve as donation platforms. Other parties mentioned are the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), Komunitas Biduan (Singers Community) and NET TV as one of the media partners.

By Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., the funds raised amounted to Rp 4.8 billion (US$318,461).

"The funds raised from this charity concert will be delivered directly [to the victims] in the form of food, clothes, logistics, as well as health assistance, trauma recovery support and temporary housing," said Iluni UI central committee chairman Arief Budhy Hardono in a statement on Wednesday.

The musicians to perform at the concert include Raisa, Tulus, Ariel, Ikang Fawzi, Krisdayanti, Dira Sugandi, Lea Simanjuntak, Titi DJ, Inul Daratista, Afgan and Elek Yo Band. (kes)
