Sixteen-year-old Abilya SA was in a hurry to get to Central Park Mall in West Jakarta on Monday at 5 p.m. to buy tickets for herself and her mother.

“Initially I wanted to purchase tickets online, but I was afraid the website would crash, which is what usually happens, so I decided to purchase them offline,” Abilya told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

She said that she only stood on line for 15-20 minutes, however some people were purchasing tickets for up to 15 people at the three available counters.

The feature film follows the K-pop act's journey during their 2017 The Wings worldwide tour. It reportedly showcases live performance footage and interviews with members of BTS, namely RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.

Directed by Park Jun Soo, the movie is set to be released worldwide on Nov. 15 in select theaters, with tickets available for purchase starting Monday at 4 p.m. local time in Indonesia through the movie’s website or participating theaters and ticket boxes.

In Indonesia, the film will be available in selected CGV, Cinemaxx and Flix theaters with tickets priced at Rp 150,000 (US$9.88) in Jakarta, Depok, Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan and Denpasar; and Rp 100,000 elsewhere.

The movie's distributor, Feat Pictures, announced on Wednesday on Twitter that additional screenings would take place on Nov. 16-18 amid high demand.

Ticket preorders for the additional screenings will open on Thursday at 10 a.m.

On the first day of preorders, several fans reportedly experienced difficulties due to a website crash. Luckily 27-year-old employee Winda still managed to buy one.

“I bought a ticket on the CGV website. The server displayed an error massage several times when I tried to place an order. Perhaps because of the enthusiasm of ARMY.” Winda told The Jakarta Post.

CGV Cinemas' head of sales and marketing, Manael Sudarman, said the theater operator was not the only platform that had experienced surging web visits during ticket sales.

“We already allocated [enough bandwidth] for the ticket sales [on the CGV website], but it turned out to be higher than we expected,” said Manael.

Fans also raised the concerns over ticket wars that scalpers could take advantage of.

Cinemaxx management has not responded to an email sent by the Post on Tuesday regarding the matter.

Manael said scalpers were normal concerns but fans who wanted to watch the movie at CGV cinemas did not need to worry about sold out seats since the management had limited the number of online preorders by up to eight tickets per buyer to discourage scalping. (kes)
