JAKARTA: Andi Mutiara Pertiwi Basro, better known as Tara Basro, says she was very excited when offered a chance to star in a movie featuring pencak silat martial arts.

The actress said that she was glad, because the role gave her a chance to learn pencak silat, despite the bruises she picked up on the practice floor.

'€œLearning pencak silat is super fun. I learned that pencak silat is not only about fighting, but also has something that my body and mind need,'€ the 24-year-old star of Catatan Harian Si Boy (Boy'€™s Diary) said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Tara, who will star in Pendekar Tongkat Emas (The Golden Stick Knight), said that apart from fighting, she also learned how to manage her breath in order to maintain self control.

The film is also slated to feature Christine Hakim, Slamet Rahardjo, Nicholas Saputra, Reza Rahadian and Eva Celia.
