akarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo revealed on Wednesday that he had written his resignation letter and submitted it to the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD).
'I sent [my resignation letter] to the DPRD last week,' the president-elect said at City Hall as quoted by kontan.co.id on Wednesday.
Jokowi, who is scheduled to begin leading the nation on Oct. 20, said he did not know when the council would conduct a plenary meeting to further discuss his resignation.
Home Minister Gamawan Fauzi previously reminded the former Surakarta mayor to submit his resignation letter before Oct. 20.
Gamawan said regulations regarding that the resignation of a regional head were stipulated in Law No. 32/2004 on regional government, which states that the resignation of a regional head or deputy head must be tendered by the council speaker, to be assessed in a plenary session. (alz/nfo)
