n eight-month pregnant woman, identified only as FS, 35, was assaulted by a shop worker, identified only as JMD, 22, in her car in North Bekasi on Friday.
Bekasi Police spokesman Adj. Comr. Siswo said the incident occurred after FS had shopped in the store where JMD worked. 'They were familiar with each other as FS often shops there,' he said, as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.
Siswo said JMD felt upset because FS was impatient, grumpy and scolded him every time she shopped in JMD's store. The suspect later pretended to ask for a ride after the victim had finished shopping.
JMD, who sat next to FS in her car, covered her mouth with his hand and punched her. FS, shocked at the assault, turned off the car's ignition and fled to get help. JMD took the steering wheel and drove off.
Locals who saw the incident assisted FS and several gave chase after JMD. 'He was caught when he got stuck in traffic,' Siswo said. (***)
