MyGadget: Nino '€˜RAN'€™: iPhone before game consoles

Kapanlagi.com

Musician Anindyo Baskoro, better known as Nino from the RAN pop music band, always finds his iPhone to be his best companion in life.

The 27-year-old doesn'€™t need an extra mobile phone to deal with his daily activities, from having basic communications with people '€” including greeting his friends and fans on social media '€” to getting online entertainment and taking notes of his ideas for making music.

'€œI take my iPhone to wherever I go. Even if I'€™m in the bathroom, I always bring it with me. That'€™s because I often get ideas that I need to record before I forget.

'€œThis also applies to when I'€™m driving in my car,'€ says Nino, who with RAN mates Rayi Putra Rahardjo and Astono Handoko has released four music albums: RAN For Your Life, Friday, HOP3 and Hari Baru (New Day).

After the iPhone, then come the game consoles.

Nino, who hosts a music chart program on OZ Jakarta radio, says that having two little brothers somehow makes it important for him to catch up on trending game consoles at home.

'€œFrom Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlaysStation to PSP and PS Vita '€” you name it, I have them all at home. My brothers and I often play FIFA [soccer games] or MLB [baseball games] together,'€ he says, adding that his brothers are baseball players.

iPhone 6

I'€™m always amazed by sophisticated gadgets '€” that doesn'€™t mean I have to buy new gadgets all the time, but I really appreciate those high-tech gadgets.

iPhone has always been the '€œit'€ thing. Back in the old days, I used Nokia, but as soon as I knew iPhone, I changed my brand of mobile phone.

I feel comfortable using iOS. There was a time when I used Android in Samsung, but I just didn'€™t get the feel of it, so I stopped.

MacBook Pro 2013, 15-inch

I'€™ve been using MacBook since I was in university some years ago. I continue using it because it syncs perfectly with the iPhone, making my work easy to get done.

Apps, Websites and Programs

I open my Instagram and Twitter accounts on a daily basis and chat with WhatsApp and Line on the iPhone. With the same gadget, I like to browse in IMDB for new movie trailers and YouTube for various entertainments.

On my MacBook, I deal with Cubase, Reason and Ableton programs to make music and perform with RAN. Ableton is a good program to record a live performance '€” it acts as a music sequencer.

Fun facts

When you'€™re a musician and you'€™re performing, you really need a mobile phone with various functions. It passes the time when you have to wait for hours before getting on the stage.

For battery life, I don'€™t rely on a power bank because one broke my iPhone'€™s battery once. I would rather bring a charger.

I always buy myself the newest iPhone. Do you want to know why? That'€™s simply because I have two little brothers and a little sister, who are expecting to get the old ones.
