Around 60 Rohingya migrants from Myanmar will learn English with students from Malikussaleh University in Aceh.

The English course, which has been organized by the university and the International Organization for Migration, targets displaced Rohingya migrants taking refuge in North Aceh.

'€œOur main target is teenagers and children,'€ the university'€™s rector, Apridar, said as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.

Apridar added that the university had prepared six teachers from its English and Language Center to provide training two days a week.

Apridar believed that English proficiency was needed by Rohingya migrants to help them communicate during their time in foreign countries.

At least 556 from the Rohingya minority group in Myanmar landed in Aceh two months ago. Indonesian government has allowed them to stay for one year before they can find another country to host them. (ika)(++++)
