akarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja "Ahok" Purnama plans to integrate mobile application-based ojek (motorcycle taxi) services such as Go-Jek and GrabBike with TransJakarta to support the operation of the latter.
'Yes, we have plans to integrate Go-Jek and GrabBike with Transjakarta. But we are still discussing what the system will be like,' said Ahok on Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.
Ahok explained that one of the reasons why the Jakarta provincial government is giving support to both companies is because they have opened opportunities to increase the revenue of ojek drivers who usually come from lower-income backgrounds.
'I understand that this policy will increase the number of ojek drivers in Jakarta, but I think that's okay. We will still prioritize the main protocol roads for public buses and four-wheeled vehicles,' Ahok added.
Ahok added that Go-Jek also offers an interesting solution with its instant courier and food delivery service.
"This means they can help reduced the number of private vehicles cramming Jakarta's streets and parking lots," said Ahok. (nov/kes)(+++)
