Women's rights activists have lambasted the Pasar Minggu Police for not detaining a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman on a foot bridge in South Jakarta, saying their inaction would likely be a stumbling block to the case making its way to court.
The police released the man, a student identified only as AA, on Saturday after he was brought to the Pasar Minggu Police office for questioning about the offense against the woman, identified only as AS, on the Jati Padang foot bridge after getting off a Transjakarta bus on Saturday morning.
Your comments:
This is why such a crime is growing popular in Indonesia because the police seem incompetent, incapable of doing their jobs, or in many cases taking bribes to not charge a suspect or to release them.
Remember the case a few years back where a man was lynched for stealing chickens and a few months back for trying to steal motorcycles?

He was let loose because he could only be sentenced for two years? Come on! A man who sexually assaults a women is caught and then released. Unbelievable! The man has surely disappeared by now, ready to commit other crimes.
