he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) selection committee (Pansel) has confirmed that the candidate who was a suspect of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) was one of the 19 candidates in the final selection phase.
According to KPK Pansel head Destry Damayanti, they received more detailed information regarding the case involving the candidate after the final phase interview.
"We immediately removed the candidate [from our list]. There is no tolerance, especially when the candidate is already a suspect, since we are looking for those with integrity and untainted records," said Destry at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
When asked about the candidate's identity, Destry refused to reveal any information.
"It would be better to ask the Bareskrim," said Destry.
Previously, Bareskrim Polri chief Budi Waseso stated that one of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leadership candidates is currently under investigation.
"If I'm not mistaken, one of them was declared a suspect by our investigators two days ago," said Budi Waseso on Friday. (kes)
