139 illegal migrants nabbed in East Nusa Tenggara

The Indonesian Army arrested 139 undocumented migrant workers in East Nusa Tenggara on Saturday.

The arrests were made following a report from local residents on the existence of a camp for the workers.

'€œThe ironic part is of those arrested, we found three babies and five toddlers,'€ said the commander of Wira Sakti Military Command in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Brig. Gen. Heri Wiranto, as quoted by tempo.co.

Heri said that the case had been handed over to the East Nusa Tenggara Police.

He also said that the Army was committed to eradicating human trafficking in the province, thus hoping for cooperation from the public.

'€œSociety must support us by reporting any human trafficking practices,'€ he said. (ika)(++++)
