cting Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) commissioner Johan Budi SP, who is now seeking a permanent leadership role in the antigraft body, has denied that he has been named a suspect by the police.
'I don't know and I do not feel I would become a police suspect,' Johan said as quoted by tribunnews.com. He was asked to comment on rumors that he was the KPK commissioner candidate recently named by the police as a criminal suspect.
He advised journalists to direct their questions to the National Police.
Previously, the police's Detective Corps chief Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso said that one of the KPK commissioner candidates being scrutinized by the selection team had been named a suspect by the National Police. But he refused to announce the name of the suspect.
Selection team member Yenti Ganarsih visited the National Police headquarters to ask about the issue, but declined to reveal the information she received from the police.
Johan, however, expressed his confidence that he was not the person who had been singled out by the police. (bbn)
