resident Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo met with Jakarta residents in three separate locations on Saturday, shaking hands with residents and distributing basic goods, activities that were a familiar sight back when he was still governor of the city.
He made an appearance at Jl. Intan in Kampung Rawa sub-district, Jl. Srikandi in Tanah Tinggi sub-district and Jl. Gotong Royong in Sawah Besar sub-district, all in Central Jakarta:
In his standard attire of a white shirt and black trousers, President Jokowi arrived in Tanah Tinggi at 2:30 p.m. accompanied by Central Jakarta Mayor Mangara Pardede and was welcomed by dozens of waiting local residents.
One by one, the President invited the residents to accept a package of staple foods. Jokowi also chatted casually with the people while distributing the packages. One resident told Jokowi he had been waiting for the President's impromptu visit, known locally as Blusukan, for over two hours.
In Tanah Tinggi he distributed 1,500 packages containing sugar, cooking oil, rice and several other staple food items. (bbn)(++++)
