An elevator in a South Jakarta office building crashed on Thursday morning leaving two people dead, a company spokeswoman has said.
Nur Shilla Christianto, head of corporate communications at PT Nestle Indonesia, confirmed on Thursday that the accident in Tower B of the Nestle building in the Arkadia Green Office complex on Jl TB Simatupang claimed two lives.
"An elevator crashed in our office at around 9:40 a.m. The two people who died were our employees," she said as quoted by newsportal kompas.com.
Nur said three people were in the elevator at the time of the incident. Two were Nestle employees and the other one was an employee of a contractor in the building.
Office management evacuated all the victims to the Siloam hospital, which is located near the building.
Nur declined to elaborate on the cause of the crash or from which floor the lift fell.
"We are still awaiting a formal investigation by the police," she said. (rin)(+)
