our students of state elementary school SD 1 Sukorejo in Perak, Jombang, East Java, drowned on Saturday at clay quarry in Plosogenuk subdistrict, Perak, during an outbound activity.

Basori, a local resident, said the school'€™s students had arrived at the site at 10 a.m. Some of the students, including the four victims, all aged 10, played near a mudhole left by mining activities, which was filled with rainwater.

The four fell into the hole and drowned because none of them could swim. '€œThey [were in the water] for about an hour. They were immediately taken to the hospital but they did not survive,'€ Basori said, as quoted by tribunnews.com on Sunday.
