West Java provincial capital Bandung will offer cooperation projects worth Rp 60 trillion (US$4.4 billion) to Belgium that will be discussed with Princess Astrid Josephine of Belgium during her official visit to the city on Mar. 17.

During the visit, Princess Astrid would act as a special envoy of King Phillipe and would represent the interests of her country, Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil said on Friday

Infrastructure development will be one of the focuses of the cooperation between Bandung and Belgium as currently the city is aiming to build world-class infrastructure that will cost up to Rp 60 trillion in total.

"I will propose Rp 60 trillion of projects through public-private partnerships. I hope there will be one or two projects that will be materialized," Ridwan said as quoted by tempo.co.

One of the projects that would be proposed to the Belgian government was the development of an information and technology-based modern city that would be named Bandung Teknopolis (Technopolis of Bandung), Ridwan said.

Other proposed projects included the development of transportation, telecommunications and property, he added. (afr/bbn)
