The operation of commuter trains operating between Bogor in West Java and Jakarta was disrupted after an empty Senja Utama Solo train serving the Jakarta'€“Surakarta line in Central Java derailed at Tanah Abang Station in Central Jakarta on Thursday morning.

Eva Chairunisa, the spokeswoman of commuter line operator PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ), said in a press release that the derailment had forced trains to end their trips at Manggarai Station in South Jakarta.

'€œIn order to prevent an accumulation of passengers, we deployed a feeder train from Manggarai to Sudirman Station [in Central Jakarta],'€ she said.

She advised passengers who were in a hurry to take other modes of public transportation, adding that people who had purchased tickets but canceled their trips could get a refund.

After PT KAI removed the derailed train, services on the Bogor-Tanah Abang line resumed at 10:55 a.m.

Many long-distance trains continued to use the commuter line, causing some delays, especially on the Tanah Abang'€“Manggarai line.
