ecurities company Mandiri Sekuritas, part of state-owned lender Bank Mandiri, posted revenues of Rp 307 billion (US$23.59 million) in August 2016, up 18 percent from revenues booked in the same period of last year.

Mandiri Sekuritas capital market director Laksono Widodo said the company would strengthen its cooperation with Mandiri Group to explore business opportunities and expand its market to the private sector.

As of August, Mandiri Sekuritas has completed 25 bond-underwriting deals worth Rp 9.9 trillion, up by 57 percent year-on-year (yoy), and five equity underwriting deals worth Rp 4.1 trillion, showing a 233 percent increase yoy.

"This August, 25 deals totaling Rp 10.4 trillion are in the pipeline," Laksono said at a media gathering in Bandung, West Java.

Mandiri Sekuritas has secured 54,000 customers who invest in the capital market with a total transaction value of Rp 80.8 trillion and a market share standing at 3.9 percent as of August 2016.

"The daily transaction value in the company amounts to Rp 499 billion per day, up by 6 percent from the Rp 471 billion per day recorded in the same period last year," Laksono said.

On the daily transaction figure in 2016, he said 55 percent of transactions came from institutional clients and 45 percent from retail customers.

Mandiri Sekuritas has also become an important player in the securities market, with a transaction value of Rp 48.8 trillion and a market share standing at 10.3 percent. (ebf)
