The consortium, which consists of Wika, Spanish construction firm TSK Electronica Y Electricidad S.A. and local power solutions provider Sumberdaya Sewatama, will be in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction of the peaker power plant, which will be able to provide an additional 250 megawatts (MW) of electricity.
The project is expected to be completed in the next 20 months.
“Wika is proud to take part to accelerate the government’s 35,000-MW electricity procurement program. We expect to complete the project on schedule,” Bintang said in a press release distributed by the company on Thursday.
Peaker power plants are usually operated only when the demand for electricity is high, known as peak demand. (hwa)
