tate airport operator Angkasa Pura (AP) II hopes to facilitate the arrival of more foreign tourists by expanding its 13 airports across the country this year.

The firm expects to open new terminals at its airports, which includes Husein Sastranegara International Airport in Bandung, West Java; Depati Amir Airport in Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung; Silangit Airport in Siborong-borong, North Sumatra; and Supadio International Airport in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

AP II is looking to maximize the use of its newly built Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, as well.

“Our new modern terminals champion the uniqueness of each respective area. AP II is optimistic in seeing 4 million foreign visitors [in the areas with new terminals], an increase from 3.4 million visitors from last year,” AP II corporate secretary Agus Haryadi said in an official statement on Monday.

Depati Amir Airport will be the first to launch a new terminal, scheduled for Jan. 11, that will be able to welcome 1.5 million passengers annually.

The expansion of Silangit Airport aims to support the tourism of the scenic Lake Toba area, which is one emerging destination being developed by the government.

The government aims to welcome 15 million foreign visitors this year, an increase from 12 million foreign tourists targeted in 2016.
