ndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle chair Megawati Soekarnoputri says some people have mistakenly asked her about positions in the current Cabinet.

In a brief speech at an occasion to celebrate her 70th birthday, attended by officials including President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, Megawati was quoted by Antara news agency as saying on Monday: “I witnessed that many people have been so eager to show off [it's] as if they would be appointed [ministers]. That made me laugh.”

She added that some people even personally checked with her about their chances of securing ministerial posts.

Also attending the celebration were former vice presidents Try Sutrisno and Boediono, People's Consultative Assembly chairman Zulkifli Hasan and several Cabinet ministers. (dmr)
