In a brief speech at an occasion to celebrate her 70th birthday, attended by officials including President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, Megawati was quoted by Antara news agency as saying on Monday: “I witnessed that many people have been so eager to show off [it's] as if they would be appointed [ministers]. That made me laugh.”
She added that some people even personally checked with her about their chances of securing ministerial posts.

"Some even came to me asking: Will I be [a minister] or not, Bu? They may forget who's the President," the former president joked.
Megawati's birthday party was enlivened with an art and music performance directed by Agus Noor and Djaduk Ferianto.
Also attending the celebration were former vice presidents Try Sutrisno and Boediono, People's Consultative Assembly chairman Zulkifli Hasan and several Cabinet ministers. (dmr)
