he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested 11 people, including a Constitutional Court (MK) justice, for alleged bribery, an official at the antigraft body has said.

"The KPK has arrested 11 people, one of them is a judge at the Constitutional Court," KPK deputy Chairman Basaria Panjaitan said on Thursday in a text message sent to reporters.

She added that the KPK had found indications of bribery in relation to a judicial review filed at the court.

Basaria did not reveal any names. However, speculation is rife that the judge in question is Patrialis Akbar, who is also a former National Mandate Party (PAN) politician.

Patrialis, a former law and human rights minister, was controversially appointed as a Constitutional Court judge in July 2013 during the administration of then president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Separately, Constitutional Court chief justice Arief Hidayat apologized to the public on Thursday over the arrest of the justice for the alleged bribery, reportedly at a hotel in West Jakarta on Wednesday night. (jun)
