majority of voters favor incumbent candidate pair Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election, according to three new surveys.

Meanwhile, candidate pairs Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono-Sylviana Murni ranked second and third, respectively, kompas.com reported.

A survey released by Populi Center on Sunday reveals that Ahok-Djarot has a 36.7 percent lead, while the share of Jakarta voters expressing a favorable view of Anies-Sandi amounts to 28.5 percent. In the survey conducted from Jan. 14 to 19, Agus-Sylviana are considered the least electable candidate pair, achieving only 25 percent.

The Populi Center survey involved 600 respondents in six areas across Jakarta and was conducted via face-to-face interviews. It has an error margin of around 4 percent and a trust level of 95 percent.

Similarly, a survey released by Indikator Politik Indonesia last Wednesday showed that the Ahok-Djarot team was viewed favorably by 38.2 percent of respondents, while 23.8 percent supported Anies and Sandi and another 23.6 percent preferred the Agus-Sylviana duo.

Conducted from Jan.12 to 20, the survey involved 808 respondents and has an error margin of around 3.8 percent and a trust level of 95 percent.

A survey conducted by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) found Ahok-Djarot would win over the two other candidate pairs, gaining 34.8 percent of the votes. Meanwhile, Anies-Sandi and Agus-Sylviana were favored by 26.4 percent and 22.5 percent of the surveyed voters, respectively.

Conducted from Jan.14 to 22, the SMRC survey involved 800 respondents and has a margin error of around 3.9 percent and a trust level of 95 percent. (ebf)
