akarta deputy gubernatorial candidate Sandiaga Uno, who is running with Anies Baswedan, said he was optimistic that he and Anies would win the first round of the election because an internal survey had shown a significant increase in their electability in the past two weeks.

Sandiaga said their camp accepted all polling results as feedback for the team, but they only trusted their own internal survey. “We only trust our own internal survey, which has not been released to the public,” said Sandiaga, as quoted by kompas.com on Tuesday.

In more than a dozen surveys conducted by various pollsters between November and January, Anies-Sandiaga's electability has been put in third place, however, lately the ticket has shown an increase in its electability, pushing them to second, or even the front-runner position in one survey by Poltracking Indonesia. The latest survey by the Populi Center showed Anies-Sandiaga came second after rivals Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat.

Sandiaga said that the internal survey had shown that their electability had increased significantly in the last two weeks.

“We will make sure that there is no fraud in the election. We believe that Jakartans want to have a high-quality election,” said Sandiga. (lly/evi)
