armudi.co.id, a burgeoning classified car advertisements site, has opened a Carmudi Sentra Otomotif (Carsentro) used-car dealership in Surabaya, East Java.
Carmudi Global CEO Stefan Haubold said the move was based on the increase in car ownership in the province that stood at 120,000 cars per year.
Surabaya, as the second-largest city in Indonesia, has high potential in the used-car business network, he added.
“We will open more dealerships in other cities,” Stefan said after inaugurating the fourth dealership in Surabaya, adding that it aimed to open another 10 in the regions.
Meanwhile, Bank Central Asia (BCA) finance director Amirdin Halim said his bank had disbursed about Rp43.44 trillion (US$3.26 billion) to finance automotive loans in 2016.
“The new car market accounted for 80 percent of all financing, while used cars made up the remaining 20 percent,” Amirdin said.

Amirdin said used-car market trends always followed new car sales, as around 20 percent of new cars entered the used-car market the next year.
New car sales reached 1.1 million cars in 2016, with 10 to 12 percent of sales taking place in East Java. (bbn) .
