he Jambi city administration will continue the second stage of its gas program this year with a target of connecting as many as 2,300 households.
The economic division head of the Jambi administration, Irwansyah, said the program, which provides domestic gas supplies, had been planned in 2012 but the realization only began in 2014 with a target of 4,000 connections. Of that target, 557 connections have not yet been realized, he said, adding that this was due to houses being unoccupied or whose functions had been changed.
The administration has proposed 20,000 connections to state-own energy company Pertamina Gas Niaga as the operator responsible for the connections. This number is expected to be achieved in the next four years.
Rates are divided into two group: Rp 4,500 (0.34 US cents) per cubic meter for ordinary households and Rp 7,500 per cubic meter for upper-income households.
There are also commercial rates of Rp 4,500 for small-scale businesses and Rp 7,500 for medium-sized businesses.
“The difference is minimum usage of 10 cubic meters for households while for businesses the minimum usage is 50 cubic meters,” Irwansyah said on Friday. (rin)
