Police urged to reveal faces of suspected pedophiles to public

he Indonesian Child Protection Agency (LPAI) has demanded that the National Police reveal to the public the faces of suspected pedophiles involved in the now-closed Facebook group containing child pornography.
By showing the faces and the full identities of the suspects from the Facebook group, called the “Official Candy’s Group”, the police would help the public recognize the alleged perpetrators, Reza Indragiri of the LPAI said on Tuesday.
“We will not accept it if the perpetrators are only charged with the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law. We want the criminals to suffer the heaviest penalties possible and be charged with multiple charges,” he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He said it was not against the law for pedophiles to have their faces displayed in public as pedophilia constituted an extraordinary crime like corruption and terrorism.
The Official Candy’s Group was an exclusive group on Facebook with around 7,000 members.
The group shared child pornographic material in the form of 100 pictures and 500 videos.
The members of the group were required to regularly upload links of child pornography with different victims. The police have so far arrested four administrators of the Facebook page. (hol)
