P

resumptive Jakarta deputy governor-elect Sandiaga Uno is set to hold a silaturahmi [friendly meeting] with his former election rivals and to form a community of former city leaders

Separate meetings with Jakarta deputy governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat and Sylviana Murni, the former running mate of gubernatorial candidate Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, will be held on Wednesday evening at a restaurant in South Jakarta.

“It’s only silaturahmi. Bu Sylviana is my old friend, as is Pak Djarot,” Sandiaga said after giving a talk at an entrepreneurship seminar in Al-Azhar school in Bumi Serpong Damai, South Tangerang.

He said that as the election was now over the meetings would hopefully result in reconciliation between residents and a peaceful atmosphere in the capital.

The planned meeting would be the first between Sandiaga and Djarot after quick count results showed Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga won the runoff election on April 19.

Anies and Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama met at City Hall a day after the election.

Sandiaga added that Anies and himself would engage Ahok and Djarot, as wells as the other former governors and deputy governors, in managing the city.

The plan is to create a rembug (community) of former Jakarta leaders, he said.

“We will ensure that we [Anies and himself] take heed of their suggestions,” he said.
