orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors have demanded four years’ imprisonment and a Rp 200 million (US$15,000) fine for Fahmi Darmawansyah if he is found guilty of his alleged role in a graft case pertaining to a Maritime Security Board (Bakamla) procurement project.
“We demand the panel of judges declare the defendant guilty of corruption,” KPK prosecutor Kiki Ahmad Yani said at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
The prosecutors accuse Fahmi, the president director of PT Melati Technofo Indonesia, of bribing four Bakamla officials.
Fahmi, along with two executives of his company, allegedly bribed Bakamla deputy chief Eko Susilo Hadi with Rp 2 billion (US$148,887) to win a tender for a sea surveillance satellite systems project worth RP 222 billion. Besides Eko, bribes were allegedly handed to Bakamla’s data and information director, Commodore Bambang Udoyo, Bakamla’s bureau head of planning, Nofel Hasan, and Eko’s administration staffer ,Tri Nanda Wicaksono.
Previous hearings also brought forth the alleged role of Bakamla chief Vice Adm. Arie Soedewo, who allegedly told Eko about a 7.5 percent kickback from PT MTI earmarked for Bakamla. (mrc/rin)
