he five police officers who fell victim to a bomb blast near a Transjakarta bus station in Kampung Melayu in East Jakarta on Wednesday night were escorting a pawai obor parade to welcome in the fasting month of Ramadhan.
National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. Syafruddin said the police officers were guarding residents participating in pawai obor.
“Four police officers were injured in the attack. One was killed, Sec. Brig. Taufan,” Syafruddin said.

National Police chief Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto said that as of 11:50 p.m., there were nine injured victims from the attack, consisting of four policemen and five civilians. (bbs)
