T

he Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has launched on Wednesday two online platforms, which are expected to help increase information accessibility of the sector and monitor the ministry’s budget.

The first is an online platform called ESDM One Map Indonesia that offers information on geological potentials, working fields, upstream oil and gas data and power infrastructure.

While the platform will be accessible to the general public, including investors, only those working within the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry or other related ministries and institutions can modify the information.

The second platform is a budget realization monitoring application called AMORA that records data on transactions made using the ministry’s budget.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan said it created the platforms to boost transparency and increase the efficiency of services offered by the ministry.

He called on those responsible for inputting information in the platforms to continue improving not only the data, but also the platforms’ security to prevent tampering by outsiders.

“False information cannot be inserted [into the systems]. Garbage going in will result in more garbage coming out. I have already reported [the systems] to the President,” he said.

“It must also be useful for the people and must improve our governance. In other countries, seismic information is readily accessible, however it is not here. There must be more transparency as it is fairer that way.” (tas)
