T

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested on Tuesday Bengkulu Governor Ridwan Mukti and his wife Lili Madari, along with several local contractors. They were temporarily held at the Bengkulu Police headquarters.

"Yes, a team from the KPK has arrested Ridwan and his wife and have taken them to the police headquarters," Bengkulu Police spokesman Comr. Mulyadi said in Bengkulu on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

However, Mulyadi went on to say that the police had yet to know what case had led to the arrest. The police, he said, were only responsible for securing them at the headquarters.

It was Lili and the contractors who were first arrested by the graft busters. Ridwan was arrested shortly after.

Their arrest reportedly involved a bribery-related case.

Contacted separately, KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said he had yet to get information about the arrest.

"The team has several activities. I need to check what it is precisely about," Febri said.

The KPK has at least made four arrests this month.

Early this month, the KPK arrested Parlin Purba, the chief of intelligence section 3 of the Bengkulu Prosecutor’s Office in Bengkulu, for allegedly receiving bribes. (foy/bbs)
