T

he events of a brutal gladiator-like fight that led to the death of senior high school SMA Budi Mulia student Hilarius Christian Event Raharjo have been reconstructed as part of the Bogor Police’s investigation into the case.

Fourteen witnesses and four suspects were involved in the reconstruction, which took place over two hours at the Palupuh field behind SMA 7 Bogor, West Java, on Monday afternoon.

The police’s criminal investigation unit head Comr. Ahmad Choirudin said investigators had reconstructed 14 scenes, discovering that Hilarius' death occurred in the 12th. The 17-year-old collapsed after being hit and kicked in his stomach and face, he explained.

“After he collapsed, he was reportedly still breathing. He was then carried to a hospital. However, he died before arriving at the hospital,” said Ahmad.

He said the one-on-one fight that took place in January 2016 was planned as there had been a meeting before the fight was held. The police are still pursuing another suspect, identified only as FR, who remains at large.

Hilarius’ remains were exhumed on Sept.19 for an autopsy to discover the cause of his death. From the results of the autopsy performed by the West Java Police’s forensic team, it was discovered that Hilarius’ body showed signs of physical harm caused by blunt objects, including a fatal injury to his abdomen.

Bogor Police chief Sr. .Comr. Ulung Sampurna Jaya said previously that the four suspects, HK, TB, BV and MS, were arrested separately in three different locations last Wednesday. (ebf)
