The Jakarta Police plans to investigate two bank accounts linked to, Aris Wahyudi, 43, the owner of an alleged prostitution website.
It allegedly masqueraded under the guise of matchmaking site nikahsirri.com.
“At present, we have sent a notice to two banks used by the suspect,” said Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono on Thursday.
He added that the banks have not yet responded.
The much-talked about site conducted “virgin auctions” through nikah siri (Islamic unregistered marriage).
The site stated that members, who were interested in finding a wife or husband, should be at least 14 years old. It reached 5,670 people, from an initial 2,700 during the preliminary investigation.
So far, the police are still unable to find out whether underage children were registered on the site.
Aris was arrested on Sunday at his home in Jatiasih, South Bekasi. He was named as a suspect on Monday and charged under the 2008 Electronic and Information Transaction (ITE) Law and 2008 Law on Pornography. (wnd)
