ogor District Court has sentenced two men, AB and HK, who were involved in the fatal gladiator-like fight at a high school in Bogor, to two years in prison, a too lenient punishment according to the victim’s family.
The fight led to the death of Budi Mulia senior high school student Hilarius Christian Event Raharjo in January last year.
AB reportedly fought with Hilarius, while HK supposedly initiated the fight.
Besides the imprisonment, both must undergo work training at Vocational Bina Daksa rehabilitation center in Cibinong, West Java.
Maria Agnes, the mother of Hilarius, deplored the decision, which she considered too light.
"The main people involved were only punished with two years in prison. This is unfair and hurts my feelings," she said as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
Meanwhile, MS, who acted as a referee in the fight, was punished to one and a half years in prison and three months of compulsory work training. (cal)
