ix horse-drawn carriages have been prepared to carry the bride and groom, Kahiyang Ayu and Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, and their immediate family to Graha Saba Buana, the venue of the couple's much-anticipated wedding on Wednesday in Surakarta, Central Java.
Three carriages will bring Kahiyang and her family from Lodji Gandrung, the official residence of Surakarta Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo. Meanwhile, three other carriages will carry Bobby and his family to the wedding venue from the Hotel Alila Solo, where they are staying.
Each of the carriages will be drawn by two horses. The six carriages are being prepared by Anwar Muhtadi, 76, who runs a carriage business in Surakarta. Anwar owns two of the six carriages, while two belong to President Joko Widodo. The remaining two carriages belong to the Surakarta administration.
“All of the carriages will be drawn by mares,” Anwar said on Monday.

Kahiyang and Bobby will be escorted in a carriage worth Rp 100 million (US$7,405.22), which Anwar said was designed by Gusti Bendara Pangeran Haryo Yudhaningrat, the younger brother of Yogyakarta's governor and sultan, Hamengkubuwono X.
“It was [originally] Rp 75 million, but it costs Rp 100 million today. It takes around a year to build a carriage,” he said.
He said the carriage for Kahiyang and Bobby would be drawn by white mares. “This was her request,” said Anwar, adding that the six carriages would be driven by 20 coachmen. Anwar himself will drive the carriage for the bride and groom. (mos/ebf)
