Tourists spend holidays differently in Yogyakarta Fun traveling: A group of tourists in Javanese traditional clothing enjoy the sights at a village in Cebongan, Sleman regency, Yogyakarta, on board a "gerobak" (modified cow-drawn cart), which was originally used to transport agricultural harvests. pending holidays in Yogyakarta, known as the heart of Javanese culture, can be much more memorable when it is done differently, and with taste.

That is true at least for a group of volunteers and journalists joining #berliburdenganhati (spending holidays with heart), organized as a corporate social responsibility program in the region recently.

For three days and two nights participants of the program enjoyed various activities, sightseeing, relaxation and soaking in scenery they might not be able to find in other places.

“This is what we call a gastronomy traveling package, a complete tour package that includes everything -- food, culture, nature and creative economy,” said Vinny Mulyadi, the CEO of Pelangi Benua travel agent, which helped arrange the tour.

Using the concept of gastronomy traveling, each package also includes stories about what was behind a particular dish served during the tour as well as the philosophy of the dish.

On their last day in Yogyakarta, for example, the group was taken to the house of Kanjeng Raden Tumenggung Hamong Tedjonegoro, a member of Yogyakarta Palace’s extended royal family, who was the heir of Sultan Hamengkubuwono VII. There, they ate lunch, which consisted of some of the favorite foods of the palace’s past sultans.

Other activities included cooking at the Bhumi Langit resort in Bantul regency, traditional lunch at Ingkung Kuali in Pajangan, Bantul, and a massage after sightseeing around Cebongan village, Sleman regency, on board gerobak (modified cow-drawn carts) while wearing traditional Javanese clothing.
