tate-owned energy giant Pertamina, through its upstream subsidiary PT Pertamina EP, will close the operation of 13 illegal oil wells in Pompa Air village, Batanghari, Jambi.

According to a report from Antara, Pertamina EP Asset 1 spokesman Andrew said in Jambi on Sunday that the wells would be closed by a team of representatives from the company and the local administration. The event would be witnessed by Jambi Governor Fachroni Umar.

Once the 13 wells were closed, he added, 26 other illegal wells would remain in the province as a product of illegal drilling.

“Pertamina has so far closed 26 illegal wells. We will close all the wells eventually,” Andrew said. (bbn)
