here are reports of casualties following a riot that broke at the National Police’s Mobile Brigade (Brimob) detention center in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java, on Tuesday evening.

According to media reports shooting occurred during the incident and an undetermined number of personnel from the police’s counterterrorism squad Densus 88 may have been killed, although as yet this remains unconfirmed.

National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. M. Iqbal confirmed that a riot had taken place but did not elaborate on the cause of the trouble nor whether there were any casualties in the incident. 

“There was an incident and it is currently being taken care of by local Brimob officers,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.

The Brimob detention center is a maximum-security facility where terrorism suspects and convicts are held. (wit)
