T

he Jakarta Transportation Agency decided that there will be no car-free days on June 10, 17 and 24 or during the Idul Fitri holidays.

The agency’s deputy head, Sigit Widjatmoko, said the cancellation had been regulated in the Gubernatorial Decree No. 12/2016 on car-free days.

“We’ll focus on ensuring the safety of the Idul Fitri exodus and returning traffic this year,” Sigit said as quoted by kompas.com on Sunday.

The agency will work with the Jakarta Police to safeguard and manage traffic on several roads across the city.

“The transportation agency and the police will also start safeguarding bus terminals, train stations and airports next week,” he added. (vla)
