T

he Indonesian sepak takraw men’s team bagged another victory and was granted a place at the semis after beating India 3-0 at the group B qualifiers on Monday, and before that also defeated Iran 3-0 in Sunday’s match.

Indonesia finished its third match only in 29 minutes with the final scores of 21-11 and 21-4. Captain Saipul Herson Mohammad and friends had also snatched the second and first matches with 21-13, 21-10 and 21-17 and 21-6 respectively.

“The team will be all-out against Malaysia in Tuesday's match. Lend us your support and please pray for our victory,” Saipul told a presser held after the match.

Assistant captain Prasetya Victoria Eka acknowledged that Malaysia had always been deemed a tough opponent, and therefore there would be no other way for the team to maintain solid focus and cooperation right from the start.

In a similar tone, head coach Asry Syam expected the team to stay focused during the upcoming match against Malaysia.

“We have anticipated the opponent’s strength,” he said after match.

The men’s victory was not followed by the women’s team, which had to bow to Vietnam 1-2.
